Anyone ever order sewing thread or any other sewing supplies off of ebay?

I going to be purchasing a serger in the next couple of weeks and noticed on e-bay that people have serger thread for sale. Would you purchase this?

Thread has a shelf-life and old thread, regardless of how good a thread it is, will fray and unravel. So, unless I was positive it was not thread that's been sitting in someone's basement for 5 years, I'd not buy it off ebay.

I have found that recently the prices on ebay for crafting supplies have been much higher than what I can pay at a craft store, so take that into consideration as well. . .
