I have put Ben Hur and Roman Holiday in our Netflix queue. I figure the latter has good scenes of the city. Any othe ideas? I am afraid Spartacus would be too violent, but I am not sure.
Thanks!

My husband doesn't think Spatacus would be too violent.
He also suggests Quo Vadis --not sure how that's spelled.
What about "The Robe" with Richard Burton? It deals with the crucifixion.

- David MacCauley's "City" (or it may be called "Roman City")
- NOVA episode: "Secrets of Lost Empires: Colosseum"
- Ancient Civilizations for Kids: Rome (Schlessenger Media)
I think our boys were 10 and 12 when they watched "Spartacus"; it's not too much more graphic in violence than "Ben Hur" -- but, I think it is a more serious and intense movie. And there is one scene that was tastefully handled, and will go over kids heads, but the reference to "oysters" and "snails" had to do with sexual preference. (ick!)
Warm regards, Lori D.

Netflix has Drive Through History and some of the episodes are on Rome. They are 30 minute episodes and very entertaining for kids and adults...at least in our house. They are from a Christian perspective.
