View Full Version : Writing With Ease - Handwriting font?
What "style" is WWE workbook samples written in? I am trying to decide on a handwriting curriculum and thought I would choose one that is most similar to the "other" writing book my kids will use. It kind of looks like italics maybe?

The font's not meant to look like a handwriting font, it's a typical printed font. I "think" it's comic sans serif, but I'm not an expert. The copywork sentence is printed at the top of the page and there are 3-line handwriting lines below. The only thing to consider is that Handwriting without Tears uses different paper, so you might want to avoid that one.

The samples are in print, not cursive or italic.

A thought-- and btw, we love this program and are halfway through workbook 1. Edited to say this is for first grade.
The lines are a little large. I just got the second workbook and haven't measured them but they look about the same. It may be typical first grade handwriting paper, but it seems a little big to me. We use copywork as double duty for handwriting practice, and my son's hw vastly improved when I switched to slightly smaller lines (grade 2 paper that I bought from Rainbow Resource). So I re-copy the sentences onto separate paper and don't use the WWE paper.
I'll add that even before we changed paper ruling-size, at the beginning of first grade ds had a hard time translating the small font for the copywork into his own handwriting properly spaced on the lines. That isn't a problem anymore, but at the beginning, I re-copied the example on to a separate sheet of paper so he would know exactly how it should look on the lines. I saw MFW 1st and this is how they do their copywork pages, so I felt better about him needing to have it this way. All to say it may be too much at first for some kids to copy correctly, and translate the script onto the lines at the start of first grade, so you may use your own sheets anyway and not need to worry about what font is in the book.
