What are your thoughts on these programs? We are using K and ECC this year and love them. I usually start buying next year's curriculum in the spring, and I want to start planning my purchases. I wanted to get the hive's thoughts before I start buying. :D

I think it'll be a great year using 1st and CtG. Since the history in 1st starts w/ Creation, you're little one will have plenty of activities that will go right along w/ your studies in CtG. I haven't used CtG yet, but will in a year and a half.

We are doing MFW Adventures this year. Next year I am planning on doing MFW 1st with dd and ECC with DS. I have read the MFW forums, WTW forums and Homeschool Reviews, and I honestly haven't come across any negative comments, except a couple of ECC users said that ECC was the "lightest" of the programs, but really didn't have anything negative to say....:001_smile: The bible integration in these programs is worth everything to me!

I did MFW1st and CtG together a couple of years ago and it was, hands-down, my favorite of all of our years home schooling. We loved the feasts and festivals and the 1st grade curriculum fit in so smoothly. My kids learned a ton and we have made some of the things we learned into family traditions. They work beautifully together and gave a great start to the history cycle.
I loved that the 1st graders learned to read using a Bible. Mine loved their Bible Reader so much that they kept them for quiet reading time.

I'll be the odd one out here. We did not do CTG, but MFWK (we loved) and 1st. MFW 1st was a complete bust.
We didn't like the Phonics. It moved way too fast. It was good to start, then it started to all run together for her after a few months. If you slow down, as all all-in-one curriculums do, it's hard to start shuffling back and forth when you get off in one place and not in another. Some of the words in the reader were hard even though they introduced them first. Along w/new phonics concepts and other hard words, it was daunting for her. Too many new words at one time to read. That kind of killed the experience. If you have a relatively strong reader, this won't be an issue.
My dd found the bible reader boring. It would be better if they had other readers as well. Now you could add in others, but that's not what I buy an all-in-one for. Some more fun readers would give more excitement. I thought the entire curriculum was lacking in excitement. It's all biblical. That's not a bad thing, but there wasn't anything else. No balance. It just wasn't engaging for us.
