Under the Welcome... in the right hand corner is Private Messages: It shows there, but you have to look for it.

Each user can determine whether they are notified.

Under User Control Panel, go to Edit Option and then to Messaging and Notification.

If you signed up under your control panel settings to get a prompt, then you will get one. Otherwise, I think it just shows on the top right, under your name sign-in.
