Just took a look at the score posted online, and I'd like to read some opinion from others out there who have experience with the test.

My dc is in 8th grade, and took the test in January. This is the first time.

Scores where as follows:

Critical Reading = 620
Math = 660
Writing = 750

We are looking at another try in June, just to see if this experience helped.

I'd love to hear what you think. Thank you all :-):)

Geez, I'd jump up and down a million times with joy if my ds18 pulled those scores. Congratulations!

Fantastic results!

I'd love to hear the details of how you prepared your dc for the SAT so young. Did you use a review course?? Also, how in the world did you prepare your dc to score so well on the essay portion?? I have a 7th grader and am considering having her tackle the SAT next year, so any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you all for the encouraging words!

The SAT prep has started a long time ago, when I first talked to the kids about the importance of education. Through time we stressed a hard curriculum, and my oldest dc who just took the test, always had deep affinity for reading and writing.

For curriculum, we used Singapore Math (including NEM), Rod & Staff English, different Science & History curriculums, Logic, Latin, as well as other foreign languages, and of course lots, and lots of reading.

In preparation for SAT 1, we bought the latest book from the College Board, and used their website on a daily basis http://www.collegeboard.com/splash/

Other useful tools:
Gelfand Algebra

Also found this interesting book at the library:
SAT Math Handbook of Tricks and Strategies by Steven Pearlman (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/103-3286686-8130214?%5Fencoding=UTF8&search-type=ss&index=books&field-author=Steven%20Pearlman)

Best of luck!
