Hi, everyone! It's been forever since I've posted anything on the WTM forums... long time, as in, years! I doubt any of you remember me. Maybe Peek-A-Boo does --- is she still here?

Anyway...

I'm becoming less and less enthralled with the Hey Andrew series. It started out great, but it's losing us now. My 6th graders are exactly halfway through HA Book 5, and they are NOT getting it anymore. I am thinking of switching to the Elementary Greek series, but where would I start? Which level? How about for my 4th grader who is halfway through HA Book 3?

Also, I am tempted to switch from Latina Christiana to Latin for Children. It just looks more... um... "fun", kwim? My 6th graders are almost done with LCII, so I think we'll just stick through the end with them. My 4th grader is not really getting it, and he's only on lesson 10 in LCI. Where would I start him in LFC?

Thanks in advance for any guidance you can offer!

My daughter went through Latina II and learned more vocabulary in the first 6 weeks of LFC than in 1 year of Latina. There are problems with LCF, but overall, we like it better.

For Greek, I would start all of your boys in Elementary Greek 1. The older ones will surely move very quickly through the beginning, but the grammar is presented in such a different manner that I think the reinforcement will be very worthwhile.

In LFC, the DVD instruction can be a little difficult to follow, but we are hanging in there. The workbooks have some minor type-o's. Otherwise, it's been solid. They have a website with flashcards and parent helps, too.

We are using the revised LfC Karen and we are liking it. the new videos slow down the crazy fast chants and there are little extras that my kids look forward to. I have one that needs a lot of extra worksheet type practice and there are extra worksheets on the website created by other teachers that have ben helpful. We have enjoyed the activity book and I am about to purchase the reader for LFC-A.

For my slower kid we have had to spread out the chapters because he struggles so much with memorizing. Of course his 6yo little sister rattles off conjugations all the time but she doesn't get the grammar yet (Next month they release a K-2 program we will get for her). I think the average kid could keep up with the memorization and grammar.

Off Topic but did you know There is a new version of LCC coming out? Drew says it is totally redone and it is in the publisher's hands now.
