other than improvements to the skin or helping children with ADD, what are the benefits of taking these? Is this something everyone should take? Why? Why Not?

Fish oil and other good sources of omegas are vital building blocks for the brain, increase heart health, lessen pain and inflammation, improve psychiatric health, decrease dyslexia, etc.

So, yes, it probably would help anyone:)

fish oils. We don't eat enough fish for the most part. You may, but most Americans do not. I think a fish oil supplement (not just any fish oil, but a good quality fish oil) is necessary. Many come in capsule form now (try Garden of Life's Cod Liver Oil tablets) to cut back on aftertaste. GoL also makes a lemon/mint flavor liquid oil. Just my 2 cents...

My doctor wanted me to take it to help with blood pressure issues.

Everyone is going to see different benefits to different supplements; some may have no benefits at all. As for me, the omega supplement I take helps me to maintain a more steady emotional state. Instead of the large dips, curves, and loops of a roller coaster, my emotions are more balanced and now resemble a water ride.

In addition to all the benefits others have listed, I have also experienced a marked decrease in craving "junk" I guess the good fats have made less room for the bad stuff because I just don't crave it anymore  Since taking the fish oil for about 2 months now, that is the only thing I have changed and I have lost 3 lbs.

The few times I tried to have dessert, a few bites was enough and I was able to stop without feeling like I needed more.

Ohhh...I REALLY hope this is one of the benefits for me too. I love chocolate and crave sweets all the time which doesn't help me control my blood sugar at all.

Frankly, I also think that it helps me sleep better at night as well. I agree, too, that it helps me keep a calmer, emotional state of mind. And I know that it keeps the bad cholesterol at bay too judging by my blood work done.
