when you hear "toasted coconut"?
I sent my dh and dd to pick out paint for her room. I had floated a couple of Pottery Barn type colors but in the end, I left it up to dh and dd. Dh said he would look for something peach. I said ok but just make sure the color was warm.
So he got toasted coconut. Well, it did look kind of peachy in the can. But when he painted the room it looked EXACTLY like that Crayola color that noboby uses: Flesh. Dd likes it. I'm trying but it's so hard not to snort everytime I look in her "toasted coconut" room.

My dd6's room color is called "Pink Bombshell". What they mean is bubblegum pink! It is so bright it glows!
Suggestion: If you put complementary type curtains, bedspread etc. I think it would tone down the color somewhat - or make it less of a focal point.

But, um, probably not "flesh"...
If it's any consolation, we spent *months* discussing the colors for our master bedroom. Literally, it was bare sheetrock for ages, while I droned listlessly on about how I wanted "a Tuscan look- with terra cottas and coppers and rich, warm, inviting earth tones."
DH picked up the paint.
It's grey. Old elephant grey. Prison cell grey.
But with a lovely sparkly white trim! LOL!

This article (http://www.rd.com/columnists/mary-roach/color-me-flummoxed-choosing-a-paint-color/article.html) appeared in Reader's Digest recently. Since reading it, I have this feeling we may end up with nothing but white rooms!
Accessorize with bright colors. Maybe her room will end up looking like Hanna Anderson clothes on a really cute little girl?

I'm a huge proponent of buying a sample (quart -- or smaller, if available) and painting a large swatch of the wall. So much simpler (and cheaper) than repainting a whole room because the color just doesn't look the same on a whole wall as it does on a tiny swatch.

I do this, too. I went through 12 colors before I decided on Cashmere from Porter this past summer. The guy at the paint store got a kick out of the kids and me coming in every day for three days. At $5 per sample, it really was a great idea. When my husband went in to buy the multiple gallons, the paint store guy asked if he was my husband.

Saw the coolest thing recently, maybe from Ralph Lauren...it's a little plastic bag with a 1/2 cup of paint sealed in it. You open it and paint a section of wall to get an idea. They probably had 20 of their bestselling colors for a couple bucks each. : )

Was this at Home Depot?

The best way to pick out paint colors....Go to Sherwin Williams and pick up the big paint swatches. You pay a deposit of $10 which you will get back if you return it in 30 days. You DO get it back as I have done this. Then once we pick out our color then we try to see if Lowe's has it by taking samples of the similiar color we picked out from SW swatches. We have been very pleased with our paint colors in our home!!
