I got it a couple of years ago and looked through it. Ended up not using it because of the first lesson. It was an excerpt from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, a particular favorite book of mine growing up. The excerpt might have appealed to a boy, but I knew right away it would be a deal-killer for my daughter. The entire paragraph was about a gigantic sea octopus with tentacles, etc. The excerpt was a deal-killer for me too! Taken out of context, the writing was boring and overblown. Worse, the language was completely archaic. All of this was part of the immense charm of the book when I read it cover-to-cover as a young teen, but taken out of context it was just plain bad writing. Nobody writes like that anymore, so IMO it was a very poor choice as an example to copy.
It may be that the course is okay, but I just couldn't get past that first excerpt.....
