I'm searching through my cabinets and all these meds have warnings to "consult your doctor" about taking if you have "thyroid disease."

It's too late to call the dr. If you're hypothyroid, what do you take for cough? It's a very painful cough, and I sure would like to get some rest tonight. I've already taken Tylenol for the fever.

I have been hypothyroid for 16+ yrs....I take whatever I want. I have never had any dr tell me to watch what cold meds I take and it has never caused me any problems.

Make yourself feel better!! :)

I have no thyroid, and had thyroid issues before it was removed. I take whatever I want.

If it's something new, though, I will call the pharmacist and ask if it will interfere with the synthroid I take. Sometimes the pharmacist will tell me to wait a few hours after taking the synthroid before taking it.

If you're concerned, call the pharmacist at the all-night drugstore and ask.

I think those warnings pertain to overactive thyroids. Medicines have caffeine in them and can negatively affect those types of thyroid patients. I have thyroid disease and like the others, I take whatever I want.
