who would imagine a book about punctuation would be so very funny?

Oh, we laughed so much when we read it.
Remember to check out Talk to the Hand. We liked it just as much.

Yep, I really enjoyed this book as well. She has a couple of cute picture books out as well. My kids really enjoy them.

I, too, have been known to correct punctuation. Just the other day I added an apostrophe on a sign in a store to make the subject of the sentence possessive. And now that I have my Buxton bag, I'm thinking of adding some Wite-Out and a Sharpie--my pen works fine on some things but not on others [*bg*]

Some signs that make me crazy: The airport in my city has big signs for the restrooms that say "MENS" and "WOMENS." I've thought about starting a campaign to raise money either for new signs which will include apostrophes or new signs that just say "MEN" and "WOMEN." I don't know if anyone will go for it...

Thanks Crissy, I didn't know that Lynne Truss had another book out. I'll have to look for it in my library.

I thought her first book was extremely funny, but only because I know so much more about punctation now than I did a few years ago.

Our church meets in a private school auditorium. The school bulletins and other posted memos are constantly filled with poor spelling and grammar, and I have grabbed a pen from my purse to correct them. I think, "My goodness, these parents are spending thousands of dollars to have their children taught here. They might as well learn to spell and read correctly while they're at it." Really, it just gets my goat that the teachers and faculty cannot spell or properly communicate to the students, and parents are paying for it!

I loved this book. I keep recommending it to people, and they just say, "It's about what??"

I love that book. :D

Misuse of apostrophe's(hee hee) drives me insane. I was reading a blog the other day and almost every plural word had an apostrophe on it.

It is called "Talk to the Hand" subtitled " The Utter Bloody Rudeness of the World Today, or Six Good Reasons to Stay Home and Bolt the Door"
It is a delight.:D

I work with all sorts and many can't spell at all. C'est la vie.

However, if a teacher uses bad grammar, it literally pains me. I get a feeling that, graphically, would look like a slug with salt poured on it. Hence, I was destined to run screaming from hubby's ex-wife, even if she'd been a joy to deal with.

Me [silently]: ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG NO IT IS NOT!!!!)

I'm reading an article on cnn.com tonight and I come across this sentence:

"She had last seen him Monday morning, when he told her he was planning to drive north to visit his ill godfather who he had not seen in a long time."

Ugh. If the media can't get it right, I suppose we shouldn't expect the general population to, either.

It is a riot! I'm glad you posted the link for others! LOL When a friend of mine suggested it to me about a year ago, I wasn't too keen on the idea. But then I read it.

:)

Cheers!
