Is that lame?

We are working on becoming debt-free and also saving HUGE chunks of money every month towards lump some debt payments (and a car for me!)...

Anyway, we will be purchasing Christmas gift certificates throughout the year starting now to the tune of 20/mo or so.

My dd loves music. Would it be lame to give her Discoveries in Music as a Christmas present?

I can't really add it to our cost of homeschool expenses. If I buy this for her that means she's not going to get any other big-ticket Christmas presents. But she'll still get a few small things plus plenty of stuff from aunts, uncles, and grandparents. She has a lot of nice high quality toys.

It's either this or the really nice, detailed Step 2 Kitchen. But she already has a kitchen. It's old but it's a kitchen.

?? I feel lame but maybe it's a good idea.

does she enjoy music?

The Discoveries in Music program comes with a set of DVDs, and some musical instruments (as you probably already know : ).

Does she already have musical instruments?

We have the older version of this program, which was called Melody Lane, and my dc have enjoyed it very much. I've used it three years in a row, and plan to use it again before I finally "retire" it.

My dc are boys, and I doubt they would have been excited to receive a set of DVDs / videos for Christmas without the instruments, but with the instruments included, my younger (music loving) dc would have thought it was a great gift!

I can't remember how much DIM is. You could buy some really nice instruments from Kindermusik www.kindermusik.com and some fun CDs (Child's Celebration Of series is nice), Peter and the Wolf, Child's Introduction to the Orchestra. Things of that sort. Scarves, silks, music and rhythm instruments are well-loved here. :)

There is a lot to this program as well. This year we've mainly just watched and discussed the dvd's, next year we will dig deeper in to it. Great program.
