We are throwing in the towel with SOS Spanish. Too many computer glitches! Each time my ds would type a correct answer, the computer throws it out. It has been so frustrating. I had followed a link to Breaking The Barrier (http://www.tobreak.com/) and wanted some reviews on their programs particularly the Spanish program. Any users here? And can you combine books or work on more than one for a year?

I've never heard of the series you mentioned, although the samples look good.

If you're looking for something in this vein, you might want to look at Barron's Spanish Now!, (http://www.amazon.com/Spanish-Now-Level-1-CDs/dp/0764177745/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1229526735&sr=8-1) which you can buy at any larger book store or Amazon. I'm using this with a few kids and it's going very well. I'm actually using a version of it called Spanish the Easy Way, but it's pretty much identical to Spanish Now! except that the latter has CDs and a different cover. Amazon has reviews and sample pages.

It's also a text/workbook. There's some general vocabulary review in the beginning, and then each chapter starts with a dialogue and comprehension questions, then a grammar lesson and grammar exercises.

It's a lot cheaper than the curriculum you linked; Amazon's selling it for $19.79 including the CDs.

Hi,
My dd did Breaking the Barrier Spanish I last year. She liked it, but it does move pretty quickly. My ds wasn't able to keep up, and he didn't do well with SOS Spanish I either, so we decided to go ahead and use the Spanish I Lifepacs with cd's. Not ideal, but with his spelling issues the Lifepacs are working better than SOS did.

I have been wondering about this Michele, can you give a quick review of Lifepac's? is it easy to implement?

I used SOS Spanish I for a few days myself and immediately sent it back!
