What's the best way to adevertise getting rid of our dog?

We have come to the conclusion that my husband's wicked rash is from the dog and we need to find a new home for Trooper. (The dog, not my hubby.);)

I sent an e-mail through our co-op loop, but I am not sure where to go from here.

When we have done this we put an ad online (similar to Craig's list) but we reserved the right to be very picky about who we selected for the dog's future home. It worked out very well though we did turn two people away.

the local vets (to get the word out) - maybe you could put up a flyer in their office. Also if it a specific breed, is there an on-line yahoo groups for it where you could offer the dog?
