For the early years I like WWE, but Classical Writing is till my first love in a writing program for 4th or 5th grade on. I voted CW.

I haven't tried the other programs.

Write Shop for 6th-7th-8th is the first I've found that worked well for us.

At first I was not sold on CW, but now seeing the stories my dd12 is writing... I'm sold!

We don't exactly use a programme. The boys have writing prompts (in Junior English, So You Really Want to Learn English, Lightning Literature 7 and my own history prompts (http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dfdc5dvw_0gkn879)) and I help them with crafting.

I said "other" because I don't know!
Like Laura, I tend to make up my own- or have done for the last year. It's gone well but I am ready for a program again.
Before that I loved Classical Writing but I burned out on the teacher intensiveness of it. Great program though.
I like Writing Strands but my kids don't.
I am about to try IEW's medieval history writing plans...writing is my son's weakest area and this may provide the scaffolding he needs, I hope :), while minimising having "another" subject to complete.
My daughter just completed 2 online courses with home2teach.com, and I can highly recommend them. They were perfect for her.
