My 9th grader completed 9th grade English Paces. The Paces included composition and 3 Lit. books. The comprehension questions were very 'lite' in regards to the books read.

She is also finished Vocabulary Roots and is taking a writing class online. The writing teacher is going to give her a full credit for the writing class. She loves the class, but I honestly believe it barely deserves 1/2 credit. It consist of sending in bits and bites of writing on a particular subject each week. One lesson per week.

How do I combine everything into one credit for her transcript???

I don't know what English Paces is, but based on what else she's accomplished, I'd give her one credit and just call the whole lot "English 9" or something similar. The transcript itself is an at-a-glance gridded document of some sort (imo) and the explanations can come in an attached document that includes a reading list (if impressive), and some sort of description of the classes taken. Just curious, which 3 books did she read? Did she read excerpts from other works? It's nice she loves her writing class. Having that skill will take her far when she gets into more literature!

I agree that it sounds like you can combine all these things into one credit, total. You just put English 9, or English I on your transcript. When I'm combining work from various classes, I average all the grades together to get a combined grade.

If you're also doing a course description, then you would just state all the things that composed her freshman English credit: Vocab Roots (book xxxxx, pub. date, perhaps number of lessons, etc.); say what the English Paces work involved; and include the syllabus for the writing class.
