This is actually for next year...I'm already thinking ahead.

A little background...This is for my oldest dd. Being my 1st, I started her early (K at age 4, 1st at age 5, etc.). We used a packaged traditional curriculum for the 1st 4 years (through 3rd grade - age 7) and she did very well. However, I read TWTM last Christmas, and I realized that there were holes in her academics, mainly writing. I also realized how much fun we missed out on with history and science, so I decided to repeat most of 3rd grade this year according to TWTM. However, I let her continue 4th grade this year in some subjects, including grammar with GWG 4. She's doing very well with it. For writing she's been doing WWE 2. But, now I've definitely decided that I want her to do 4th grade fully next year and have a good year to get ready for the Logic stage.

So, which English grammar and writing option would you choose:

1) continue next year with GWG 5 and WWE- she doing very well, so just let her keep going
2) repeat 4th grade grammar with another program, like FLL 4
3) use Writing Tales 1 in addition to WWE. This would review grammar and give her lots of writing practice.
4) something else that I haven't thought of

Thanks for your input!! This has really been on my mind lately!

I'm a bit slow with the letters, but I choose option 1. If it is going well, don't try to fix it.

This is what I would use if I had to do gr. 4 over again. :D

I like option 1, too.

BTW, I started my oldest early, too. (He has a mid-September b-day, just after the cutoff.) When we started 4th grade, it became apparent that the increased work-load was not working for him. He's also on the immature side (not nec. in a bad way; we think he's borderline Aspergian.) Anyway, we decided to do another year of 3rd. (I know, I know, we're hsing, and don't need to use grade levels. I just found it easier for dc & me to answer questions that way, plus it makes me happy! :D)

He's currently in 4th and doing WWE 2 and GWG 4. I stared him in WWE 3, but he's really struggling with dictation, so I went back a level (though I have him read the excerpts himself, rather than reading them aloud.) The fact that there's a WWE 2 workbook with everything planned makes this easier on me, too. :)

I like the foundation WWE lays, and GWG seems to be thorough w/o being overly time-consuming.
