I started having trouble with my iBook battery a couple of months ago. It wouldn't hold a charge for more than 10 minutes! Finally today I had the $$ to buy a new battery. This one won't charge up past 68%. Sigh. Back to the store tomorrow. I wonder if the battery's defective, or if there's something wrong with my computer? It's a new charger/adapter, too. (The bunny chewed the old one, and I was afraid it would short out.)

Wait!!! Don't take it back yet. Try this: Let it run out ALL the way--like, leave it on for several days, or however long it takes to run it out completely. Then power it up for at least 24 hours. I think you're probably not supposed to your computer during this time, but I can't remember for sure. Probably better to be safe than sorry. That should do the trick. Of course, you may actually have a defective battery, but I remember this happening the first time I had to replace an iBook battery, and that's what I was told to do, and it worked.

HTH!

another "don't take it back" --dh's laptop had a similar problem. I forget what he did to fix it, and he's asleep right now, but at least wait and do the above idea until I can ask my dh, lol.

good luck!
