Hooray! We completed our first bit of writing this week.

He produced a piece fairly close to the original. His punctuation, capitalisation (including direct quotes) was stellar. (Not perfect, but I was pleased.)

It was the simple story of the Tortoise and the hare, which he changed to a car and a horse.

But, I could see he was bored. His imagination was not engaged--and this is quite an imaginative boy. He didn't play around with much at all. Even the words were the same--except the horse "galloped." I suggested "trotted" but that's what he wanted.

Ok, it IS only the first lesson, but should I skip to "week 3" and get us moving a little faster?

He's quite familiar with the story of "Androcles and the Lion"--I'm afraid it will bore him again.

I feel quite silly asking this, really. But I just want to discuss it with someone!
Thanks.
