I've never been able to find a complete art curriculum that I like. I'd love something that also includes study in famous artists. I'm looking for grades 1-4. If you have any suggestions that would be great! Thanks!

Have you looked at Artistic Pursuits or Atelier (http://homeschoolart.net/)? If you are Christian, there's The Lamb's Book of Art (http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?item_no=981013&netp_id=465536&event=EBRN&item_code=WW) .

Any idea what aspects of "The Lamb's Book of Art" actually make it Christian?

We're doing ARTistic Pursuits 4-6 this year and enjoy it. Each lesson is based on an element of art and includes as examples samples (postcard size prints) of famous paintings. It is very thorough.
Now, as for complete, it includes art appreciation, but I am thinking of varying this with AMy Pak's art appreciation kit as a change of pace because I would like to get into analysis a little deeper.
But overall I am very pleased with ARTistic Pursuits.

a bit pricey - but Atelier Art is great - you can use with multiple ages (I have 5-9 year olds doing the same level right now) - it covers art concepts very well, and includes several studies at each level on certain artists, plus a guide for how to go about studying other artists - and you can order art packets from them. You can often find it used - which can be a great deal.

We are really enjoying Atelier Art this year. It is so easy to implement and the projects are really engaging and fun.

www.handleonthearts.com (http://www.handleonthearts.com) It is a complete fine arts program and a little pricey, but it looks good.

we are also using Artistic Pursuits. I am using the first book K-3 with dd8 and ds6 . and then ds10 is going through the next book 4-6 on his own - and loving it. My kids look forward to art - so I make it the last activity of the week, once everything else is done :)
