I'm trying to decide if we could do only these for our history. Has anyone used them? Could we just do these? Or, do I need to do a history program alongside of them?

Any advice?

Patty

I left that part out. We're due for some American History.

Thanks,
Patty

They can be a stand alone, especially doing all of them in order. They also provide loads of extra resources to expand on each topic.

They are wonderful!

They could definitely be a stand-alone program. It's an excellent resource.

THey are awesome! I am doing all 4 this year, and am half way through Colonial. I am doing HOD Beyond "reading" with all my kids....and for my dd8 we are doing AmyPak's TT cds (just the lapbooks) and her readings as well.....
there are pics on my blog of the first finished lapbook...
they can ABSOLUTELY be a stand alone!

Yes, these are high quality unit studies that can be stand alone. But, I would just be aware that these are also a lot of work. The studies are on cds so everything needs to be printed. Plus, you'll want to gather all materials for different projects a head of time.

We did the colonial times one as a unit study and stretched it out over 2 months. We STILL couldn't do everything. We did do the notebook AND lapbook pages plus many many of the crafts.

All info is well organized and easy to find. The only thing I didn't enjoy so much was when a report was assigned. The directions simply said "Research ________ and write a report." So, there is a lot of work for the teacher to gather resources, print materials, research books for use, etc.

I absolutely love Amy Pak's materials and have used many of her products. I do highly recommend them, but wanted to mention (I don't think anyone else did) that they are time consuming/lots of prep work for the teacher. For me, it was worth it. :)
