Just thinking ahead a bit here as my daughter's only in grade 5 yet but I'm wondering if Key to Algebra might make a good pre-Algebra course for her next year or the year after. Would a child who completed it be prepared for Algebra 1?
The other thing is that we're using Singapore Math (with Key to as a supplement and review) and I've heard that after Singapore 6 the kids have a good grounding in pre-algebra as well. Have people here found that to be true?

I can't tell you if your dd would be ready for Key to Algebra next year or not. I also can't comment on Singapore; it's one of the few math programs out there that I HAVEN'T used. LOL But I can tell you about Keys to Algebra!
Most programs that go by the name "pre-algebra" include a thorough review of all elementary math (multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percents, measuring, etc.) and then they move into a short introduction to algebra. Keys to Algebra does NOT review the elementary math; it's more of an introductory algebra course than a typical "pre-algebra" course. Does that make sense??
My ds used Keys to in 9th grade (he has always struggled with math), and it's going on his transcript as Introductory Algebra (.5 credit). Same with Keys to Geometry.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

My brothers used Keys to Algebra for their pre algebra in 7th and this yr in 8th are flying through Video Text Algebra with no problems. So my mom has been happy with it.HTH
