Let me begin by saying that I have almost no Latin background whatsoever. None of our girls was interested in studying Latin in the least so I made the decision that the last child WOULD study Latin. We are finishing Vol II of LRTEG and have loved it. She took the NLE last year and did well, so I certainly see its merits for those of us who are not Latin teachers. Now I need to order the third volume, but am a little hesitant. First, the biggest shortcoming I perceive with the program is that there is not as much translation practice as I would like. But I am afraid to switch to another program since this is not something that I could teach without the helps that it offers. Second, my daughter is a "turtle" and really cannot handle the rapid pace of an online classroom. (She panics if she can't answer quickly enough.) I have considered Wheelock's and Lingua Latina. Could someone make a suggestion?

We're using Latin in the Christian Trivium and really like it. It's very thorough. You can get samples from their website, www.latintrivium.com.

This has worked well for us so far. We are only in Volume II right now, but we are going to spread it out over two years as we are attempting some Spanish as well. I do wish the lay out of LitCT were a bit easier to work with. There is a LOT on a page. My ds "gets" Latin far better than I do, but we still work on it together. The author is very helpful, too.
