We have a new dd who has Down Syndrome. I would love to hear from any of you who are hs-ing a dc with Down's. I have purchased Babies with Down Syndrome, and also have The Language of Toys on my booklist. Are there any resources you'd recommend for the pre-school years?

Thanks!

CONGRATS on your little one.

We don't have ds here but I have 2 kids that are in the same social/academic range as many kids with ds.

I can't remember the name of the book right now but there is a book (I think CBD has it) that has a daily or weekly activity for kids 0-5. That might give you some fun games to play with her. Just modify the schedule as needed to meet her needs.

I think that's Slow and Steady, Get Me Ready. I had the book, but honestly I didn't use it much because most of the activities had a lot of prep.

Enjoy the baby!

Thanks, Misty! I'm not getting to the board as often, which is why this is so late!

Congratulations on your newish little one!

My dd has Down Syndrome also. I think that Slow and Steady, Get Me Ready would be good if you have the patience for it. (I didn't ;) ) There's also a Bob Jones curriculum that's been modified for kids with special needs by a lady whose son had DS. I believe she's done K-4 and K-5 (and maybe 1st grade by now). If you pm me, I can probably find her email address. Don't call BJ about it, they won't know (or didn't when i called last time).

krisp,
I sent you a pm regarding the BJU special needs material. I am interested in this. I looked into this about a year ago and was unable to find any info.

Could you pm me with the info?

Thanks,

Carolyn
