Does anyone know if (and if so, how?) you can submit the Homeschool Supplement online with the rest of the Common Application? I can't believe how UN-helpful the technical support people there are. All they keep saying is they can't find my account and don't answer my question. I know I have an account there already, but I don't really see why it matters ... if I'm wanting to submit the Homeschool Supplement obviously I WILL have an account there, if I don't already! (Can you tell I'm a bit frustrated?)

Hilary,

Your child needs to log into their "side" of the Common Application and put you in as his/her counselor. The Common Ap will send you an email with a user name and password so you can access and submit the homeschool supplement and the secondary school form after filling out your school profile.

If you don't receive an email back from the Common Ap for the counselor info within a day or so of your child submitting the request, then you should either contact the Common Ap or have your child delete the request and resend it to another email address. I was able to get it to work to a gmail account on the second try.

There was another thread on the common ap here on the hs board a few weeks ago. You might try searching for that, as it had even more info.

The Common ap also lets your child send an electronic request to the people who are writing his/her letters of recommendation. Just make sure to follow up with these people to make sure they received the Common Ap's email. One of my son's recommenders got it the first try, but it took 3 tries for the second recommender to get it.

Best wishes,
Brenda

Thanks, Brenda!

I'm really having headaches with the Common App. I can't log in anymore using the user name and password that they sent me a few weeks ago. Therefore, I can't test it out to see whether I'm able to access the HS Supplement right now. We've also had a lot of trouble getting CA emails to my son's teachers. One could never get them and so we had to go the written rec route. Their technical support is AWFUL, IMO!! They never seem to respond to my actual question; it's like they have a certain menu of pat answers that they just cut and paste as replies without paying attention to what you actually asked.

Forgive me if I STILL sound frustrated!
