they asked me to, been to every other dr. they could possibly send me to and there are still more hoops!!!:banghead::cursing::banghead:

Despite the fact that the DP is the treating physician and told me to go to the pdoc I can't get an appointment with the pdoc w/o going through the master's level counselor who said he couldn't help me! Since I already saw someone in the MH department we are on his case load for a year and have to go through him first. Umm, the only reason I saw counselor first was because you wouldn't let me see the pdoc without going to to the counselor.

Never-mind that the counselor told me point blank that he couldn't help dd (repeatedly) or that she and her medications have been under the direct supervision of the DP from the start. We still have to go through the counselor. He is a nice guy, but useless in this case. Give me a break!

I thought dd was stable and that this was just a formality but I have changed my mind. She is better, but not stable, and I just want to see someone who has a clue!!! Is that really too much to ask? yep, I thought so. I miss regular insurance. I never thought I would actually pine for BC/BS but at least with them you can self refer to any MH professional you like.

Just for kicks I then got a call from the overly cheerful FSA lady (who really was very kind) telling me that they couldn't process half of the claims because of this that and the other thing and my dh will need to initial something and fax in something else and get a statement from that other place because of IRS regulations. Whose bright idea was it to marry the bureaucracy of the health care business with that of the IRS? It is positively lethal!

I need a drink, and I don't even drink!:cheers2: Who is it that has that "fapichino vodka valium, latte" avatar? It sounds good right about now.

I know it is a pain. I have been working on one thing or another for years it seems like. I just wonder how people who are a little lower functioning ever navigate the system to get any sort of help.

Maybe you can just see the counselor on an "as needed basis"--like once or twice a year just to get your pass to the pdoc.

Some of these rules are really a pain. Once a year I have to have a nurse come out to write up a "treatment plan" for my girls---which is basically she puts all of the information that I give her on her form and then mail it back to me.

Hope you get somewhere tomorrow.

Christina,

I can imagine the :banghead: and :ack2: you are feeling right about now. With our kids it's like whatever step you take someone somewhere wants you to do something else! Hoping you see some light soon! :grouphug:

We need some kind of "site map" or something for the health care hoops. If I could get a list of the 27 people I had to give a health history to before actually seeing a helpful doctor maybe I could just send out one memo to all of them at once
