I've been planning to get my daughters (7th grade) enrolled in the K12 language program, for just the one course, through their international academy. The girls are in a public school in the local language (we're in Europe) and the school has agreed to let them follow an English course independently instead of the English as a second language course that is required otherwise.
While I like the scope and sequence of the course offered, I'm having trouble with the K12 reps I've spoken with on the phone -- I keep getting conflicting information (email says they need a placement test, website says not required; can send documentation by email according to one rep, cannot send documentation by email according to another, etc). Since I'm working with K12 and a local public school that is not well versed in this sort of distance learning, I need to be sure that such logistics will go smoothly when the girls start the course.
Can anyone tell me about their experience with this side of K12? Preferably the international academy? Are they are spacey as they seem or am I just talking to the wrong people? (they're all very pleasant, I have to say). Any advice is welcome, particularly for alternative courses that can be done at a distance. Thank you.

I have experience w/int. academy, but only high school. We started K12 six years ago independent. I didnt want to jump through hoops w/public. Admin. is not great, the left hand does not know what right hand is doing, especially in int. because it is new.

I had paper problems in begin. because they wanted birth cert. I thought ridiculous, she has been registered w/them for six yrs. Than they wanted transcripts. I blew my top and spoke to higher ups. I was about to pull and get refund. But got everything straightenend out. After you start things run smoothly indepently. I dont know about public.

Seventh independent only gives you one teacher and I think curriculum is same as K12 independent regular. No bells and whistles. K12 regular independent is much cheaper, I thinkg.

On high school, the teachers are great and getting over the first mo. of scheduling issues, things are running smoothly. Highly recommended. Get lots of help from teachers and advisors, even had a college fair. So far, so good for high school.

It is new, so they have a lot of bumps to get over.
