The oldest two boys and I have been working through Western Civ, trying to do a year's worth of history reading with the appropriate literature connections - Oedipus Rex, Plato, etc. I'm proud of what we've accomplished even with the boys at public school (at least until recently).
So today I was thrilled to see that the local movie theater (we only have one in town that shows two movies at a time; no multi-plexes here) is showing a movie with an Ancient Greek theme.
I rushed home to google the movie, so excited about the coincidence of it all. It's been almost a year since I've taken the boys to a real movie in a theater, and to get one that goes with history.....slam dunk!
Except....
The movie I was all excited about? It's called "Meet the Spartans."
The synopsis on its webpage says, "The heroic Leonidas, armed with nothing but leather underwear and a cape leads a ragtag group of 13 - count 'em 13 - Spartans to defend their homeland against the invading Persians (whose ranks include Ghost Rider, Rocky Balboa, the Transformers, and a hunchbacked Paris Hilton.)
Umm.....maybe not, LOL. Man, I'm such a hick.
