My son coughed so badly through the night. I took him to the ER this morning. He has bronchitis. When we got there his oxygen sats were only at 88%. I was expecting it to be pneumonia again and that he would be admitted. Thankfully, we are home. However, he needs nebs every four hours while awake and every two to three hours at night. It will be a very long night, and I am already worn out.
The best thing happened though as a result of the ER visit! I called the agency that is in charge of the kids I had been caring for these last four weeks. I told them I needed backup because it looked like my son would be admitted. After several calls back and forth with DCFS, the decision was made to send the children home today! They will get services and the help they need, but they are together as a family! The parents were elated. The children were thrilled. I only have my own three to care for these next couple weeks.
Now I can focus on keeping my son out of the hospital.
