Need American History Help

Anyone know of a History Odyssey like program for American History? I have A History of US and the Hewitt syllabus. I just don't like the projects suggested. Any good outline maps/ideas for geography to go with this? How about books from the time period? Any help at all would be much appreciated.

We're doing the first program this year and will continue with the second next year. If you want a bit older focus, choose American Crossing or All American 1 and 2.

I really like Our American Heritage by Abeka. I can find tons of things to go along with the lesson from enchantedlearning.com

Oh, this is an easy one!! I don't have the title handy, but if you go to RainbowResource and google maps for american history, there's a mapping activity book on the perfect level for your olders. It has the maps and the instructions of what to mark where. I think the author was Churchill, but I could be wet on that. Just look at them and it will be obvious. I'm realizing I should have gotten them too! I have the KQ ones on cd, and they're fine. Really though, with your ages of kids, the book at RR would be better. The maps are a bit smaller, more mature looking. The publisher has some nice samples online you can print out to compare.

And as for the books to go with your reading, well if you use the VP cards to schedule your Hakim readings, then you can just use the lists in the VP catalog and correlate with the card numbers.
