I used some of the TOPS materials when teaching junior high science. While some of the units could be great supplements for high school studies, they are in no way a complete curriculum.

sciam.com is a good science web site for students.

along with Paul Hewitt's Conceptual Physics. They are not a stand alone program - they don't explain why anything happens, it's strictly an observation thing. When my kids read the book first and then do the experiments, it all comes together and makes sense. They enjoy using the TOPS experiments, and it is not too difficult to find the items needed (they sell a few of the more obscure things online). My kids keep very neat lab books to write everything that happens down, with lots of diagrams, etc. This is probably the only year that we will do this, as most of their books are physics.

We've added this to our chemistry Kosmos lab experiments. They have the observational thinking type of learning style which is good. But as the others said, not nearly a complete program for high school.

This one mostly just covers acids and bases and some other topic and even those are not at all complete.
