What math programs have worked well for you?
My dd is in 3rd grade. She's using BJU and it's going "ok" but I just feel that there's got to be something out there that works better!
Thanks!

My daughter's psychologist says she has "mild" dyscalculia. She has struggled for years with math. We found RightStart Math three years ago and she has really improved with it. I use it for all my children now.

My DS has moderate dyscalculia. He is 12, but on a roughly 3rd grade level in math.
We've tried a variety of programs, none of which were great. We are currently muddling our way through MCP Math 4th grade book. I would love to try Teaching Textbooks, but they don't have the elementary grades available for Mac right now. Supposedly they will next year, and I will probably switch then.
I have used MUS, and although DS got very tired of it, I do kind of wish we had stuck with it. It moves so slowly, and has so much repetition, I think it's good for kids with LD's. And the manipulatives are good for a lot of kids, although mine was just confused by them. I would usually have DS watch the videos with me, but he was completely bewildered by them.
Anyway, I have absolutely no good advice, but a lot of empathy. The educational psychologist who diagnosed DS recommended letting him use a calculator for straightforward problems. That's helped a lot.

TT was high on my list. My dd hasn't been diagnosed, it's just something that I'm sort of suspecting.
I had her go through the sample lessons online and she says that she loves it! She completely understood his explanations, etc. 4th grade is due to come out in Mar 09, so that would be perfect timing.
The other program I had been looking at was Moving with Math. From what I see it's similar to MUS.
We tried MUS and it was a total BOMB here.

We're using TT. My ds hasn't been officially dxed yet, but it's pretty obvious to me. Even using TT, I have had to pull him out and go over problems for a couple of weeks. I'm getting ready to put him back in the program again. Hoping he'll make progress as he can.

My dd hasn't been officially diagnosed but with all that I have read, I am sure that this is our culprit. We have been using RightStart for 4 years and it has helped a great deal. I have learned to use it as a guide and not as my master. My attitude change has helped a lot as well.
