I just want to share some things I learned here and want to say thanks for suggestions and prayers.

I bought Lively Latin and started Monday with all 4 of my dc's. WOW!! We have enjoyed it so much and been working on the maps in the intro. My dh was so interested yesterday that he delayed going to work to listen in on what we were doing. Then, he met us for lunch so we could discuss it together.

We were bogged down in everyone doing something different but I really wanted to get back to "group" learning. This has been a terrific switch. Two of mine were doing LfC and two doing LCI. I didn't want to buy all the workbooks, so Lively Latin has been great and I love the history portions.

I also got rid of lots of individual things we were doing and went with LCC philosophy of doing subjects in bigger segments. So, we are studying Greek Myths together from Mimosa Press, as well as 50 Famous Stories Retold. This is helping us learn together and taking some of the "stress" off.

I loved homeschooling so much when we started because it was a lifestyle. I think re-reading LCC has helped me see I need to get back to this and not being torn different directions all throughout the day.

Just wanted to share how you help those who post here by your suggestions and advice. Thanks!!!!

That's so great. LCC helps me to stay focused and prioritized. Focusing on the most important things keeps me from being pulled in a hundred different directions at once. It has been truly liberating for us.

We love the LCC method. It is so liberating. Next year will be adding a K5 to our hs day and I am looking for even more ways to simplify without sacrificing the quality of their education. Lively Latin continues to intrigue me. We are finishing up LCI and I don't know where to go next. Depending on the day, I lean toward either LL or LfC. I see that you have older dc. What was their Latin experience before coming to LL? My 11yo loves Latin and is quite good at it. Would he be board starting over or is the program engaging enough? I like that I wouldn't have to continue to add FMOR but I might miss the dvd because that allows me some free time Monday morning to get my thoughts together before we start the week. That is one reason that I lean toward LfC. I am also skeptical because of all the printing and the 2nd book is just starting to be released. This is the last part of next year that has me hung up.

The mistakes were crazy. I got Henle and we worked through some of that, but it just seemed rather piecemeal the way I was doing this. After a few weeks of really rough days, I decided the "environment" of learning was more important that the content. I feel we are still learning but we have moved to a more "gentle" style of learning.

So far, we have been doing the language history part which is fantastic in Lively Latin. We looked up the map and I think they finally see a real reason for learning Latin. I also love the history built in.

I'm not sure if this will push them quite as much, but, in the long run, I think it will instill "amamus latinum" in our education. And, as it says in my signature, this is what we strive to obtain. My dc's have just been soooo excited to be studying the same things together that I think it will be worth any extra study time it might take. It has just been like a new place around here!!
