I am having a hard time deciding which handwriting program to use with my youngest. He writes pretty well, but is not ready for the style used by A Reason for Handwriting, even though he does like the copywork/worksheets on day 4. Any good suggestions?

I see in your signature that you are using ARFH A for your K'er. There is a K book that would be much more appropriate. I believe it is just teaching the letters...not whole words or verses at a time.

We are using HWT and it is working pretty well for my K'er who was struggling with writing. While *I* don't think it's perfect (not quite enough review for my DD and learning all capitals first) it does work quite well for those little ones that are resistant to writing.

You could use just the workbook for HWT...no need really for the TM. I also made my own letter shapes from cardstock and that works just fine. We also bought one of those small white boards for $1 to practice letters on.

We used HWT for all our children. For practice of the capitals I made copies of the grey block pages. I don't know if those pages are still in the TM. It has been revised a couple of times since I started 9 years ago.

Ds enjoys Getty-Dubay's Italic Handwriting. I know it may be a different handwriting style than you're looking for, but it's working for us. Ds says penmanship is his favorite subject :D

You can see samples here (http://www.cep.pdx.edu/titles/italic_series/excerpts.shtml).

Maybe off the wall here but mine like Kumon's Uppercase and Lowercase books. I bought ours at Target and Barnes and Noble.

My son's favorite subject by far is handwriting... cursive! I make my own worksheets using the Cursive First font from Educational Fontware. http://www.educationalfontware.com/ But there's a free "get you started" program on Kidzone. http://www.kidzone.ws/cursive/index.htm
