My dad just sent an email to his four daughters, saying that we are all receiving an Austen book in the mail for Valentine's from him that we are to share with each other! How sweet is that!

I want to write a thank you to him in the style of Austen. All that's initially popping into my head is, "What felicity!" :o I will ponder what to say further, but do any of you have any ideas of Austen-style phrases to include? :)

TIA!

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a father is a daughters first love.

another of my favorite Austen lines is... this simiply will not due....but I don't know how you could use that.

By the way your dad is the best, sending his girls Austen books, how cool is that.

Something about it being the "most agreeable gift you have received in all your life!"

I was just reading Emma and came across this line.

"If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more."
--Mr. Knightley to Emma

Dearest Father,

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a father is a daughters first love. (stealing that line from Mrs. Readsalot!) ;)
I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library. For the person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid. The gift you bestow upon me is almost too good but then nobody minds having what is too good for them. And I do say that without the pleasure of a good novel life seems but a quick succession of busy nothings.

Thank you dearest father for the felicity that you have bestowed upon me through such a delightful gift.

Love,
your daughter

How's that? :D Almost all Austen quotes.
