Working on character issues?

I have been hearing about some of you taking a couple of days to work on character issues. What do you do when you do this? I am having some issues with both of my older kids, and this sounds like a good idea, but I guess I need ideas of what activities you do.

I like the Character Sketches Books by Gothard. I go over the character quality and that animal in nature which demonstrates that quality. Then I try to beef it up with other books. I also try to fold the children into whatever tasks I have to do. I would like to do this daily but I do not.
