Sugar Creek Gang or Cul De Sac Kids?

Which is your favorite? My 6 year old son is a voracious reader and I'm thinkin of getting him a boxed set of one of them for Christmas. Help me pick!:D

I loved Sugar Creek Gang as a kid but my kids never got into them that much (and they love to read). The Cul de Sac kids are cute books. My kids really liked them a lot at that age. They are a similar reading level to Magic Tree House books and they are cute stories, albeit definitely on the twaddle side. But, they have good messages and my kids really liked them a lot.

Sugar Creek Gang--there are audio versions available which are delightful. I used to listen to the stories in the car on the way to AWANA when I was a kid. I bought the set of audio stories at a homeschool convention, and now my kids and their cousins love to listen to them in the car on a weekly forays out to the suburbs. They are very old-fashioned, with plenty of adventure and bits of good-natured preaching sprinkled in. We think of them as good, clean, fun.

We like both sets, but the reading levels are very different. Cul-de-Sac kids is closer to Magic TReehouse, as far as reading level goes.

When ds was 6 or 7, he read Cul-de-Sac Kids independently, but we did Sugar Creek Gang as read-alouds.
