I woke up this morning and there was an off-line message left on my chat board. It said this:

你幹嗎離線阿

????

How could someone send this to me on chat when my computer was shut down?

And what does it say????

LOL!

It looks like question marks to me!

I tried it in the translation program on my computer to see what it would come up with. Here's what it translated to:

你幹嗎離線阿

Why are you off-line Arab League

Not sure how accurate that program is, but very strange!

你幹嗎離線阿

... it's Chinese, written by someone from Hong Kong, Taiwan or the Chinese diaspora, but not Mainland China. I'm no expert, but in romanisation I think it reads, "Ni gan ma li xian a", which I believe means:

"What the heck are your doing going off line?"

It's a question word, but is probably alternatively used as part of the Chinese version of 'Arab League'. Not in this sentence though.

If the message came in when you didn't think a message could get through, it might just be a piece of bravado: "Look at me, I managed to send you a message. Aren't I clever?"

Beyond that, who knows?

I am glad you posted on that Laura. I was curious as to just how close that silly little translator would be. I have a friend who is Korean and is now living in Korea again. I try to figure out some of what is said in Korean on her blog by using the little translator. Sometimes it makes a little sense. Sometimes, just craziness!
