Explode the Code..do you need the 1/2 books?

I'm going to add some ETC books to my ever growing order (lol) and wanted to know if I should get books 1 1/2 and 2 1/2......or do I just need 1 & 2

As I understand the 1/2 books are just there for extra practice if you need it. No new material is covered. I personally would order 1 and 2 and see if you needed any extra practice. My ds has gone from 1 to 2 without needing 1 1/2 but it does depend on the child.

Im also order the get ready etc books (A-C)...plan on working on these with younger son if he is interested.....do you think I need the teacher manual?

I didn't use the teachers manual for the ABC books. I think there is one page per lesson that just has pictures and you need the teachers manual for - but we just skipped it.

My almost 5 year old DS is in Book 2 and did not need Book 1.5. I think that for most kids Book 1 has enough repetition.

P.S. I do most of the writing - he just tells me the answers. Sometimes he will used rubber stamps and stamp the answers. You could also use letter stickers.

We've never used the 1/2 books and I've never needed the TM for either the Primers or the 1-8 books.
