View Full Version : Booster seats with 5 point harness?

Our 3 year old is just over 40 pounds and I need a booster seat for him. The problem is all the ones I've seen at the store use the shoulder belt. First off I think the 5 point would just be safer. But, I think we'd have a terrible time getting him in the seat. He hates the car (has since day one) and the 5 point buckle system will ensure he really stays in his seat- you know?

Any ideas?

By definition, boosters only boost, they do not harness. Boosters are meant to be used with a lap/shoulder belt.

You might be referring to a 'combination seat'? The kind that has a harness to use until 40 lbs then after that it's used with the seatbelt *and not the harness*.

There are also some harnessed seats that go past 40 lbs either to 55 or 65.

The Radian Kids seat is a combo that goes to 55 lbs iirc.
The Britax Marathon is a *carseat* that goes to 65 lbs.

You can see more options at elitecarseats.com

Thanks! I've got my eye on the britax regent. Now if I can figure out how to budget it in.

The Radian goes to 80 lbs.

We just bought one for my four year old because my middle seat in our car doesn't have a shoulder harness anyway and I have three sitting in the back. So it was that or a new car and can't do that:)

It's been working out very well for us so far, well worth it.
