My dd 18 has used his laptop extensively to write papers and also to help read books not available as audiobooks. We used Readplease 2003 and I only recently paid for Natural Reader with the ATT natural voices.
I wish someone had stopped me years ago and pounded my thick head until I really listened to the difference. The poor kid! Inferior intonation meant that it was often made texts harder to understand. This was a gradual process as until a few years ago we read most texts together but as He got better I got busier doing other things and didn't notice.
I am using them for the younger siblings and noticing how much they enjoy having their stories and journals read aloud. The leap in to correct the punctuation so it will sound better!
