This has been a rewarding couple of months as Organic Valley member-owners. The cover of this year's O.V. calendar has a photo of our land, and my third son's photo is inside. Just now our farm story is on both the regional (Northwest Pastures) milk carton and the O.V. site http://www.organicvalley.coop/our-story/meet-the-farmers/northwest/meet-the-wolfisbergs/. Kinda fun and I wanted to share.:)

ETA: It's not nice when we can't edit our subject line and correct our misspellings therein. LOL

Colleen your place is beautiful! You need to get a BIG stick though. You're gonna need it in a few years to chase off all the girls who come looking for those handsome boys!

a beautiful story and the pictures are great. I had to laugh, though - neither of you look anything like I pictured you. Probably partly because my fil is also named Hans I pictured your husband as this old bearded gruff guy who wanders through the house once in awhile and grunts hello. Not like the nice, cheerful, wholesome looking young man I see in the picture. And you!!!!! You are soooo young, too!

I swear you all could be poster children for the healthy farm life. Someone we know just offered to sell us a farm today. Maybe we should have said yes....

It is nice, isn't it?

Good for you, Colleen. You've worked hard for that.

It looks so idyllic there on your farm, with your boys playing soccer in huge fields, and casually hanging out with the cows. So much open space and blue skies.

And yes, carry a big stick. Five of 'em!

Lemme guess. It had that way of flattering the female figure, as do most t-shirts, much like recycled feed bag! Well, your green...well call it asparagus or no...how about celedon...spring fern? ;) Your green is lovely!

I'm so glad you shared this, Colleen. I know it doesn't come close to depicting how hard it is to do what you do - how endless the work, and often how thankless. So, thank you, Colleen and Hans, and those beautiful children, for doing what you're doing to provide folks like me with clean milk as well as to preserve a little chunk of paradise out there in Washington.

Peace,
Doran

You can't see it in the picture, but there's an O.V. logo on the upper left-hand corner ~ less conspicuous (and yes, a more pleasant color!) than the t-shirts the guys were wearing. My issue about that shirt, during the photo shoot, is that it came down just to the top of my jeans. And while my overall shape is good, my abdominal skin is...not pretty. At all. Actually, it's downright freakish. Recall, I am the woman who carried her children in such a way that a total stranger once asked to document my shape on camera. That, accompanied by my c-sections and hernia repair, lend certainty to the fact that I will never, ever, not for a gazillion dollars, wear clothes that provide even a glimpse of The Skin. So the whole five hours during the photo shoot, I maintained this sort of hunched posture, making a Very Conscious Effort not to allow the shirt to edge up.

I hope that one day, I'll be able to visit you in person. I worked on a dairy farm in Ontario the summer I just finished high school, and it was a lot of work.

Congratulations!!
