I have tried Horizons and my son is bored since it is so repetative. I like that Saxon does a variety of things and isn't repeating things too much. However, or some reason is just really time intensive for me to prepare. I also miss the independence that my son was able to have with Horizons.
How does Modern Curriculum compare? How about Abeka?

Have you considered Math-U-See. You can read my review in this thread (http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=939&highlight=fraction+overlays).

Good luck!
