Can anyone recommend a teach-yourself-at-home type book or DVD?

It was surprising how little I found when I searched this board! I'm hoping that some of your out there have some experience with this. :001_unsure:

My 10 year old dd will be getting a guitar for Christmas. I'd like to give her some instructional resources to help her get started right away. She plays piano and can read music, mostly. ;) She has a fun personality and doesn't spend as much time practicing the piano as her siblings. I'm hoping that a guitar will be a better match for her personality!
By the way, her father does play guitar a little and can help her.

There's this:

You can get it a bit cheaper on eBay.

We bought "You Can Teach Yourself Guitar" from Amazon. It comes with an instructional DVD and an audio practice CD. Ds 13 has worked through the first few lessons and is enjoying it so far.

It's a little light on theory, but you can pick that up other places.

Have fun!

Rainbow Resource sells a book we have used that is easy and enjoyable. It even comes with a CD.

I bought Music Made Easy-Guitar from Alpha Omega Publishers. I think it was about $19.00 (maybe). It's for ages 5 and up. My dh wanted to learn guitar, but like most things he wants to learn, he never gets around to actually DOING it! LOL! So I can't tell you if this program is good or not.

Do a search for online guitar lessons. You should find a lot of options.
