Do the Pathway readers contain a lot of doctrine or are they generic and just promote good behavior?

Thanks

They mostly promote good behaviour. My dc have read a couple of them, and we're not Amish or Mennonite. They women do wear headcoverings in the drawings, the girls wear dresses, and the roles of girls and boys are very traditionally defined. That doesn't bother us because my dd's have plenty of nontraditional examples IRL (my sister's a medical doctor, I wear jeans almost every day, I speak, preach & teach in front of audiences, etc.)

We've read only the first two (K/1st grade level) but I haven't seen any doctrine. Traditional roles, yes. But the stories at this level are really quite simple and innocuous (sp?).

Friends come over and the girl doesn't want to share her new doll, the cat runs up the tree, the dog runs away, the horse has a foal . . . that kind of thing.

DS7's reading ability really seemed to jump when we started reading these.

Beginning with the 4th grade text, there is more Anabaptist history and stuff.
