Hi Everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone is having any frustration with TPS this year--particularly the new software being used. I'm totally frustrated and hoping that someone can give me some idea of how they are tracking their kids' work.
My son is taking 4 classes. One teacher uses the Moodle site perfectly. :) One teacher uses the calendar feature but it shows the dates the assignments open, not the date they are due. Two teachers don't use the calendar feature at all. I've had to attempt to "drill down" into mulitple layers to figure out what is due when for this kid.
One teacher doesn't even use the Moodle site. He uses the publisher's site and only transfers grades to Moodle. That leaves me having to fish around on a whole other website which is even less intuitive.
My kid is struggling with diligence so I've been trying to keep meticulous track of what he's turning in and what he's not. But the Moodle site auto fills in grades that are not accurate. For instance, right now, he's got a 28% sitting there for a Latin quiz. I'm sure, in this case, it's because the teacher has yet to grade the problems that cannot be autograded but, when you're working with a grade "hemorrage," I need more accurate information.
We did speak with the Director of TPS. He was very kind and helped us with a few technical issues. Most of the issues, though, he just said are teacher preference all we can do is see if the teacher will change the way they do things but to be fully prepared to be told "no."
So, I'm coming here to see if any of you can give me any tips on keeping up? I have, literally, spent hour upon hour upon hour trying to get a handle on this.
All that said, we are still happy with TPS and the content of the classes. I am just frustrated beyond belief at the inconsistency and difficulty of the software.
Thanks for any input.:)
