Teaching two history time periods at the same time?

Hi!

I've been looking at Living Books Curriculum and I noticed that they teach ancient history and american history at the same time. I'm wondering how that would work and if it would be confusing for the kids or not? Does anyone here teach history that way? Thanks! :)

LBC is modeled after the Charlotte Mason method, and Miss Mason always taught the history of her home country (England) alongside world history. I don't think it would be too confusing for the child because they created timelines along with their studies, and the rotations are eventually repeated at a higher level.

We do multiple history cycles at the same time. We've never had any problems. A timeline is a good way to "see" where everything fits in.

We do that using TruthQuest. My dc have never gotten confused at all. The two histories are just too different. We are right now on the Middle Ages and Westward Expansion (U.S.). :)

This is also done in the Latin Centered Curriculum; ancient history alongside modern history.

We do this and DS has never been confused. As VaKim wrote, the differences are enough that it's never confusing!
