This would be for my 16 year old whose favorite thing to do is avoid reading. He does love Albert Marrin so that type/level of book would be perfect.
Thanks very much,

Back in highschool, I really enjoyed "Escape From Colditz" which was the autobiographical sketches of life in a German POW camp written by an English airman shot down in WW2.
Mostly I jumped into this thread because I wanted to hijack it and know how your school year has gone after your plans for your 7th and 2nd grader went down the tubes in August (http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51981). Were you able to make changes that worked well? What did you end up doing? Love to hear your update! Hugs, Lori D.

I started doing Heart of Dakota (Bigger hands for His Glory) w/ 2nd grader and LOVE it! Everything is so simple but she will learn a lot!
My 7th grader...for the first year is having a yuc year. Nothing exciting going on with him for history, which his favorite subject. Nothing at all going on with science either and it is very doubtful that anything gets done in that area this year.
Everything has gone down the tubes as I was diagnosed with breast cancer while in CA. I'm back home now...but it is looking like we are just going to get the basics done this year. If we accomplish that it will be a miracle.
Thanks for asking, and for the book reccomendation. Sorry for the whine. But hey, LLfrom LOTR is working GREAT! We both are enjoying it very much!

Dd recommends Albert Marrin's book, Operation Overlord, if he hasn't already read it. A post D Day book that dd really liked is called, Is Paris Burning?, by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre. For a non-reader, Is Paris Burning? is also a 1966 movie. :lurk5:

Thanks...I'll look into Operation Overlord. I had no idea Marrin had a D-Day book! This is great!
Thanks!

Oh, Rhonda! Hugs and prayers for complete recovery from the cancer!
And while it's no fun when one student has a "yuck" year, I'm so glad there have been some high points in this year's homeschooling journey with Dakota and LLftLotR! Hugs, Lori D.
