We've got writing covered (IEW). My 11 yo and I were discussing college and online classes yesterday. I am curious if anyone has recommendations for an online class for a computer-literate boy. I'd like him to get a taste of taking an online class. Looking for an enrichment type class, his core subjects are covered.
TIA

Look at greatbooksdiscussions.org. My 14yo dd loves it. For younger kids they offer Socratic discussion groups. I teach one of these out of my home, so I do not use it for my 7th grader, but otherwise I would.

SWB has a good discussion of online classes on her blog right now...don't have a link but it should be on the front home page of WTM website. It has some good points to think about.
I believe there is a HUGE thread about online classes on the High School forum, which has alot of people with middle schoolers chiming in as well.

interesting...I had never thought about DS taking an OL class so soon. We have discussed it though for upcoming years , as well as community college courses.

DS12 took the Logo to Lego (robotics and programing) at TPS (The Potter's School) this year with great success. They meet on line for 1.5 hours once per week. The instructor assigns homework that amounts to about 15 minutes daily and outside projects. He's enjoyed this so much, he's determined to take another elective next year with TPS.
